Lowell, Mich. (WZZM) Jeanne Shores, Lowell's first female mayor, passed away on Sunday following a 2 year battle with cancer.

Shores served 28 years in various parts of the city government. Her service includes the planning commission from 1980-1992 and city council from 1994-2009. Shores became the city's first female in 2002 serving until 2005 and again in 2008-2009.

Jeanne Shores died at Fountainview on Sunday.  

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, at Roth-Gerst Funeral Home, 305 N. Hudson, Lowell. Funeral will be Thursday 1:00 PM, at First Baptist Church of Lowell. She will be buried at Oakwood Cemetary.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Pink Arrow Project, Alzheimer’s Association, and Faith Hospice.
