Renovating Lowell amphitheater a slow process

Renovating Lowell amphitheater a slow process

LOWELL, Mich. (WZZM) Progress on renovating the old Lowell Amphitheater along the Flat River is at a stand-still as the city waits to hear whether it will receive a grant from the state.  The city applied for the $300,000 grant from the Department of Natural Resources.

Lowell City Manager Dave Pasquale said it could be several months before the city finds out whether it will receive the money.  Pasquale says Downtown Development Authority and Lowell Community fund have already committed to giving $50,000 to the project. Another $50,000 could come from the Lowell Cable Fund.

In January a 'brainstorming' session involving people from the community came up with several ideas for the new amphitheater.
