From ashes to art: Whites Bridge creation being auctioned off for rebuild

From ashes to art: Whites Bridge creation being auctioned off for rebuild
A supporter of Rebuild Whites Bridge has transformed pieces of the historic landmark into art, in hopes of generating more funding to rebuild the bridge.

Howard Larsen’s latest work features an old photo of Whites Bridge, framed with pieces of charred oak from the bridge, which were salvaged shortly after an intentionally set fire destroyed the landmark on July 7. This is the second of three pieces that will feature the photo; after that, the group intends to use the photo solely for t-shirts.

The first framed photo by Larsen sold for $425.  Proceeds from the sale went to the Whites Bridge rebuild project. The second framed photo is being auctioned off on the Rebuild Whites Covered Bridge Facebook page.  The auction runs until 11:59 p.m. Friday, September 13.
