LOWELL, Mich.—  The National Park Service is looking for volunteers to help clear a new section of the North County Trail Saturday, September 28.

Teams will be rerouting a short section of the trail along the Flat River and covering up the old trail.  Volunteers are needed to rake, prune, dig, plant and landscape the area.

Volunteers will meet at the Boy Scout cabin at the north end of Washington Street in Lowell.  The work will take place about a quarter-mile away and is expected to take about three hours.

Those interested in helping should wear work clothes and work boots and bring their own water.  The National Park Service will provide tools, work gloves and snacks.  Volunteers under age 18 must have a volunteer agreement form signed by a parent/guardian.  For more information, contact trail manager Jeff McCusker at (616) 340-2004 or jeff_b_mccusker@nps.gov .
