LOWELL, Mich.—The family of a Lowell native killed while fighting in Afghanistan will be honored during an inaugural event in West Michigan this week.

Lucas Beachnaw died in a fire fight in 2010.  He was 23 years old.

Organizers say Beachnaw’s family will be honored along with Korean War POW John Erickson during Freedom Cruise 2014, sponsored by Village Motorsports.  The five day event begins June 25 and will include car and motorcycle shows, performances by Carrie Lynch and Ryder Jones,  a guest appearance by Danny “The Count” Koker from “Count’s Kustoms” on the History Channel, and Honor Cruises spanning from Sparta to Lowell.

Proceeds from the event will go to Finish The Mission veteran relief fund.  For additional information, visit the event website here.
