Alto Downtown Development Authority Donates for Technology

From: http://www.lowellschools.com

You may see more and more students utilizing iPad and similar mobile devices in the learning process this year thanks to a generous donation from the Alto Downtown Development Authority (ADDA). This past summer, the ADDA donated $18,000 for the purchase of iPads for Alto Elementary.

The iPads were in kids' hands the first week of school! The iPad (and all mobile devices) serves as an evergrowing, important tool in the classroom in terms of enhancing the educational process. Students can research on the web, log into Accelerated Reader and take quizzes, brush up on math facts and just about any educational topic through the use of "apps" that are downloaded to the device, make videos of their work and learning to share, all at lightning fast speed.

The connection rate to the wireless system is twice as fast compared to netbooks. The building currently has about 55 iPads, which rotate through each classroom once per week. The goal is that all kids will "touch" this technology at least once per week.

Alto Elementary is very fortunate to have such a caring community who supports the education of our children! Thank you ADDA!!
