State Representative Lyons Hosts Fracking Town Hall

LYONS HOSTING HYDRAULIC FRACTURING TOWN HALL IN ADA 

State Rep. Lisa Posthumus Lyons is hosting a town hall meeting on the concerns relating to hydraulic fracturing in Kent County on Monday, March 18.

The town hall meeting will take place at Ada Township Hall, located at 7330 Thornapple River Dr. at 6:30 p.m.

"Citizens in Ada Township have expressed concerns about hydraulic fracturing and the potential for it to occur in Ada," said Lyons, R-Alto. "I am hosting this town hall meeting to help everyone understand the process and why it is being discussed in our area."

Representatives from the Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Environmental Quality will provide a briefing on hydraulic fracturing, how it is regulated and land leasing laws.

If you are in the Lowell School District, Tuesday, Feb 26, is the day you can vote on the Lowell Public Schools Millage vote

Below is a letter shared in January by the Lowell Public Schools Superintendent. In it, he asks voters to approve 1 mill to for a district sinking fund. The money would be dedicated to infrastructure improvements including safety and security enhancements, much needed roof replacement, energy savings, and asphalt replacements.

Join us on December 29, 2012 at Wittenbach/Wege Agri-science and Environmental Center, 11715 Vergennes Rd. in Lowell, Michigan 49331. Return around noon for a BYO brown bag lunch. Note that a prepared lunch will not be available this year. At 5:00 PM we gather to tally section findings.
