It’s not too late to sign up for Summer Reading @ KDL, which runs throughAugust 31! With separate reading programs for babieskidsteens and adults, the whole family can get in on the fun.

Don’t wait too long to get registered – Kids need at least 30 days to meet their goal and earn their rewards. You don’t want to miss out on your chance to win some fabulous prizes!

Just in case you didn't make it to the Riverwalk Festival for the official announcement, the 2012 Food Fight Champion is...drum roll please...the South Team!!!

It was a tight game, but in the fourth quarter the South Team rallied to win by just over 1,500 hundred.

Final score: North Team with 18,894 and South Team with 20,430!!! Way to go Lowell!
...
The real winners are all the families that are served in the FROM Food Pantry!

Kent County Youth Fair 2012

The Kent County Youth Fair is just around the corner, from August 6-11th at the Kent County Fairgrounds in Lowell!

The fair will feature over 1,400 youth exhibitors displaying their animals and exhibits. Visitors will be treated to free entertainment at the main stage tent and throughout the fair grounds. The live stock auction, Karaoke, Reading for Rides Program, Talent shows, carnival rides and games, family fun dance, pullin' on the track and the children's barn yard are just a few of the numerous events and activities that go on all week long.

Lowell Riverwalk Festival starts tomorrow

Thursday evening, July 12 will kick off the Annual Lowell Riverwalk Festival with old fashion Bingo presented by the Lowell Moose, local food vendors and the Showboat Cash Bar.  On stage 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. the Thursday night Sizzlin' Summer Concert will feature The Bronk Brothers (Rockin' Hillbilly).  With over a decade of live performances, the act has shared the stage with more than 75 national touring country artists. In 2008, the brother duo who describes their live show as a "Rockin' Hillbilly Extravaganza," earned a slot opening for Kenny Chesney in the national Next Big Star Contest.

With temperatures soaring this week, health professionals are encouraging those without air conditioning in their homes to seek out public places that are air-conditioned. Faith Fest is the first annual celebration of Faith for all of Grand Rapids.  A time for members of the community to come together and bless the community in which we live and express our faith through music, food, and fellowship.

Faith Fest 2012 is benefiting the filming and production of Church Dub 2012- a lip dub production being filmed downtown Grand Rapids as an expression of Faith. 

This press conference is to unveil the plans for Church Dub 2012 as the largest “Expression of Faith” our community has ever seen.  On August 12 be will be bringing together people of all denominations, all faiths, all races, ages, genders, and more- Simply put- All of our city in one all-inclusive video production.
