Last Saturday, falconer and wildlife rehabilitator, Greg Brooks, from Saranac, hosted a birds of prey program at the Wittenbach/Wege Agriscience and Environmental Education Center. Brooks brought with him a bald eagle and great horned owl.
Unfortunately, both birds have injuries preventing them from being released into the wild. The upside of this is that these birds are used for educational programs throughout the area.
Several nature programs are offered at the center in February.
On Saturday, Feb. 11, the center will host a beekeeping workshop from 9 am to 3pm. On Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2:30, a program entitled “All About Owls" will feature animal care specialist, Lori Martin, from Blandford Nature Center. Visitors will learn about various owl adaptations that help them to be efficient predators.

Lowell School asks parents about proposed all day kindergarten

Lowell, Mich. (WZZM) The Lowell School District is asking parents to fill out a survey to help plan for the possibility of 'all day kindergarten.'

Lawmakers are considering the School Aid Bill that will require school districts to offer all day, every day kindergarten starting this fall. Right now Lowell does not provide all day kindergarten.

The letter to parents is below and includes an attached link to the survey.

"Lowell-Dream, Believe, Achieve"

"Lowell-Dream, Believe, Achieve"

That's the motto at Cherry Creek Elementary and the students are making a difference. Mr. Audia's fourth grade students chose to raise funds to help the Haitian people get clean water.

The goal is to raise $1500 by selling bracelets that say, "I Helped Haiti" and Starfysh.org"

The sale began on January 4 and runs for five straight Wednesdays during the school lunch period. A new color bracelet is available each week.
