Rockford-based Sable Homes donates $500 to Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – On Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, Sable Homes marketing manager and new home consultant, Karin Kay, paid a visit to Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids to deliver a $500 donation to the cancer and grief support organization.

The donation came in response to Sable Homes’ Facebook campaign, which pledged to donate $1 for every new "like" Sable Homes received during the month of November. On Dec. 3, #GivingTuesday, Sable announced $500 would be donated to Gilda’s Club. Daryl Vogel, vice president of development at Gilda’s Club Grand Rapids, accepted the check at the Gilda’s Club’s Grand Rapids clubhouse and took Kay on a tour of the facility.

Volunteers still needed for world record attempt

Volunteers still needed for world record attempt

HUDSONVILLE, Mich.—Organizers of Hudsonville’s Salad Bowl Bash need about ten more volunteers to help pull off a Guinness World Record Attempt.

Michelle Fare, Executive Director of the Hudsonville Area Chamber of Commerce, says nearly 100 people have signed up to help stock the city’s record-setting salad bar on Saturday, July 27.  She says volunteers are still needed to help between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Fare says the salad bar idea came about because Hudsonville is known as the Salad Bowl City, since it’s surrounded by produce farms.  Fare says Nola Mayonnaise of South Africa holds the current record at 661 feet.  Hudsonville volunteers began building the city’s 680-foot salad bar Wednesday morning.

LaughFest world record on the line July 26

LaughFest world record on the line July 26

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–   An unusual Grand Rapids record is on the line.

On Friday, July 26, visitors to “Cirque de Fairfield” in Fairfield, Iowa will try to break LaughFest’s Guinness World Record for the most people wearing fake mustaches.

Gilda’s Club, which organizes LaughFest, has placed a friendly wager on the record attempt.  If the Fairfield community fails to break the Grand Rapids record, organizers will have to send Gilda’s Club a basket filled with goodies, and be publicly photographed in LaughFest clothing.  If Fairfield breaks the record, Gilda’s Club will have to ship out its own basket of goodies and sport Cirque de Fairfield clothing.
