Safe way to get rid of unwanted medication

Safe way to get rid of unwanted medication

What’s in your medicine cabinet?  Do you have bottles of old medication?  Flushing the pills down the toilet or throwing them in the trash pose potential safety and health hazards.  There is another way to get rid of unwanted prescription drugs in Kent County.

On October 28, 2011, from  8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Kent County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.  Bring your medications for disposal to Kent County Sheriff’s Office at 701 Ball Ave NE.  The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

This effort is part of the Nationwide Prescription Drug "Take-Back” Day.
