LOWELL, Mich. (WZZM) -- Police are warning of a phone scam targeting Lowell Light and Power customers.

The scam is causing numerous phone calls by folks worried about their power being shut off and owing money.

The scammers say they are from Lowell Light and Power and tell customers if they don't pay, services will be shut off.

Scammers leave a call back number that connects them to "George," who claims to be from Lowell Light & Power.

According to Lowell police, the city does not have an employee by that name. This is purely a scam trying to get money from customers. Police say do not send any money.

If you have any questions about your bill, call Lowell Light and Power or Lowell City Hall.
