LOWELL, Mich. (WZZM) -- Emergency crews spent most of the day Saturday on the scene of a fatal accident at a milling company in Lowell.

Police tell WZZM 13 the victim is a white male in his thirties. He was an independent contractor for Michael Bosveld Inc. in Grand Rapids.

"A contractor that was doing some work for King Milling in town here was doing some power-washing on one of the silos," said Lowell Detective Gordy Lauren. "The equipment he was on made contact with one of the power lines and he was essentially electrocuted."

The man fell from the lift. At this time it is unclear if he was killed from the shock or the fall.

Power to homes and businesses nearby will remain off while the Lowell Police Department continues their investigation.

A nearby fire station is holding a pseudo-counseling session at 4 p.m. Saturday for those who responded to or witnessed the accident.
