M-21 construction between Lowell and Ada moving along

Ada Twp. (WZZM) Construction crews have started digging up the old concrete on M-21 over the Grand River in Ada Township.

Initially MDOT planned on closing the bridge completely during construction but after many community meetings, MDOT determined crews could get the job done by closing one lane at a time in both directions.

For people traveling from Lowell toward Ada the work has created some back-ups in the morning headed West.  During the drive home in the evening traffic has been backed up from the construction project to the main gates at Amway.

Funding for the project came from $47-million dollars the state received in federal stimulus dollars.

King Doyle of King Milling in Lowell dies at age 88

Lowell, Mich. (WZZM)-- The man who ran King Milling in Lowell for 50 years has died.

Doyle became president of the company in 1945 when his father passed away suddenly. He was only 23 years old. At the time Doyle was serving in World War II and was given a 90 day emergency leave so he could get his father's things in order.  By the time the 90 days were up, the war had ended.

Doyle became less active in the company in 1995, passing leadership to his son and nephews.

He is survived by his wife Marie. Funeral arrangements are pending.  King Doyle was 88 years old.
