LowellArts! Volunteers Art Exhibition

LowellArts! Volunteers Art Exhibition

January 8 through February 2, 2013

Displaying the artwork of several LowellArts! volunteers, this gallery event showcases the variety of artistic talents possessed our artist helpers, both past and present. Many will be familiar faces to those who have attended Fallasburg Fall Festival for the Arts, Lowell Showboat Sizzlin' Summer Concerts, Sleigh Bells & Holly artists' market or other events. However, many others work behind the scenes, helping whenever needed throughout the year.

LowellArts ! Announces Minigrants

LowellArts ! Announces Minigrants

With the closing of the Arts Council of Greater Grand Rapids in 2012, the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs chose LowellArts! to administer the MCACA Minigrant program for this region of Michigan.  The staff and board of directors of LowellArts! are honored to provide this service for the seven county area.  Begun with a grassroots effort in 1977, LowellArts! has grown in its 35 year history, in part as a result of receiving grants from the MCACA.  Today LowellArts! offers a full calendar of gallery exhibitions, theatre and music performances and community arts events and festivals in the greater Lowell area.  LowellArts!

WHO is a Star Volunteer? Joy Smith!

WHO is a Star Volunteer? Joy Smith!

For the third consecutive year, Kent District Library was named a Star Library by Library Journal, thanks in part to our star volunteers. One that shines most brightly is Joy Smith, longtime President of the Friends of the Englehardt branch and current President of the KDL Alliance of Friends.

Joy recently received the Patricia Kaiser Volunteer of the Year award at a volunteer event at theKentwood branch of KDL. The accolade is named in honor of Patricia Kaiser, a long-time volunteer at the Krause Memorial branch who passed away in March 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.
