Lowell Fairgrounds bounce back from flooding to host fair August 5-10

LOWELL, Mich.—Despite extensive damage caused by flooding in April, the Lowell Fairgrounds are ready for the Kent County Youth Fair, which starts August 5.

This year’s fair runs through August 10 and will include carnival rides, animals, sand sculpting, swing dancing, blue gross music, tractor pulls, auctions and a youth talent show.  You can find the full schedule of events here. The Kent District Library is also partnering with fair organizers to offer a free day of carnival rides for children under age 12 when they present a completed book log on August 6.

The Kent County Youth Fair will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.  Admission is free.

LOWELL, Mich.—Despite extensive damage caused by flooding in April, the Lowell Fairgrounds will be ready in time for the Kent County Youth Fair.

Flood damage to horse barns and administrative offices has been largely repaired, thanks to community volunteers and successful fundraising over the past several weeks. “Over the past year we have faced some obstacles. However, thanks to the tremendous generosity of many companies and the hard work of so many people, we look forward to one of the best fairs on record,” says Kent County Youth Fair president Jon Bieneman.
