Free Bicycle Safety Class and Bike Ride

Join us on Wednesday, October 5th 5:00-6:00 p.m. for a bicyle safety talk with bike ride to follow on the new Wittenbach/Wege Agriscience and Environmental Education Center in Lowell. Misinformation and carelessness could lead to accidents on the trails so it's important that trail users are up-to-date on bicycle safety.

Stephanie Mills from Mary Free Bed Orthotics and Prosthetics will lead a brief workshop on topics such as the importance of wearing a helmet and basic bicycle rules and laws. The workshop will last about an hour and then afterwards, Stephanie will lead a bike ride down the new Lowell Area Recration Authority trail(LARA). LARA members will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding the new trail.

Lowell Area Trail moving right along despite rain

Lowell Area Trail moving right along despite rain

LOWELL, Mich. (WZZM) Heavy rain delayed some progress on the Lowell Area Trail over the weekend.  The trail blog says the 3.5 inches of rain washed away some of the gravel along the trail but crews have since made repairs.

The past two weeks have focused on finishing the trail on school properties and completing the retaining walls along Alden Nash. A formal trail grand opening is scheduled for early October.  To read updates on the Lowell Area Trail click on the highlighted link.
